Mattress too soft – what to do?
Mattress too soft – causes and solutions
Cause 1: Used mattress
A common cause of a mattress that is too soft is its age. Check how long you have been using the mattress. High quality mattresses have an average lifespan of 8 to 12 years maximum. If your mattress is within or above this time frame, it may be time to consider a new mattress. After this time, your mattress will be worn out in terms of material and hygiene. Remember your body evaporates about 500ml of liquid every night. Some of this ends up in your pyjamas, some in your bed linen and a small amount reaches your mattress. You are therefore welcome to arrange a consultation with us to find the right mattress in the right firmness level for your individual needs.
Cause 2: Inadequate slatted frame
Even if your mattress is still good, an inadequate slatted base can make it feel too soft. Check the condition of your slatted base and make sure that it provides sufficient stability and support. A high-quality, individually adjustable slatted base can significantly improve your sleeping comfort and possibly extend the life of your mattress.
Cause 3: Incorrect mattress firmness
It is possible that your mattress simply does not fit your body shape, weight and size. In our specialist store, we use special measuring devices to determine your ideal mattress firmness. It should be noted that every mattress offers a different lying sensation. As each person is very individual, it is not possible to say in general terms whether a mattress made of cold foam, pocket spring core, fiberglass or latex is better. It all depends on the sleeper, their body and their individual needs. Arrange a personal consultation at one of our branches, where we will carry out a comprehensive needs analysis and find the right mattress and slatted frame for your body together.
Solutions for a mattress that is too soft
To solve the problems of a mattress that is too soft and improve the quality of your sleep, we offer various solutions in specialist stores. A better slatted base can provide effective support from below and thus increase the comfort of your existing mattress. Check whether there is a noticeable change in your slatted frame when you adjust it more firmly (if it can be adjusted more firmly at all using special rubber sliders). You should also check whether the wooden slats bend downwards very slightly when you press on them. If this is the case, it indicates that there is not enough stability and the slatted frame needs to be replaced to reduce the sagging of your mattress.
If it is not due to the slatted frame, then you should definitely consider buying a new mattress that is specifically tailored to your individual needs.
